Commentator Rick Hamada writes about the woes of the Hawaii Superferry and why the Hawaii Supreme Court ruled only days before the vessel’s launch.
Why did the State Dept. of Transportation give the Superferry a green light to go ahead without doing an environmental assessment. Apparently this decision was made by either Bob Awana (Governor Lingle’s former chief of staff), Rod Haraga (former DOT director) and Barry Fukunaga (former Harbor’s Division head and current DOT director)… Hamada asks, “Gentlemen, any comments?”
I agree with Rick in the fact that it will be very difficult for Hawaii Superferry to remain in the islands if it is not allowed to operate by the courts.
